A new bar and grill opened this week at Tahoma Valley Golf & Country Club on Mosman Avenue in Yelm.

The Caddy Shack Bar & Grill offers burgers, sandwiches, salads, seafood baskets, hot dogs, appetizers, beer, full bar and happy hour.

Prices range from $ 5 to $ 15, and diners can eat and drink in the restaurant or on the outdoor patio which offers a wide view of the golf course.

Golfers can order from a Caddy Shack beverage cart that goes to the greens. The cart will serve all drinks, hot dogs and sweets.

Owner Tom Binde said Caddy Shack will have a “sports bar vibe and atmosphere”.

This will be the last business to open on the golf course, with the last one to close in December.

Binde said he was approached by the owners of the golf course and asked if he was interested in reopening the restaurant.

“I had owned a restaurant before and decided it was time to get back to the bar,” Binde said.

Bartender Janise Lerum said she was thrilled that a restaurant offering a variety of dishes is opening in town.

“It’s a new place for people to visit instead of the same old thing,” she said.

Caddy Shack hired four bartenders and two cooks.

Binde said the food is what sets Caddy Shack apart from other restaurants in town.

“We’re one of the few places in Yelm with American blue collar foods,” Binde said.

The bar will play Seahawks and Mariners games on large screen televisions.

Binde said he would play basketball games “if the Sonics ever came back”.

A jukebox and pool tables add to the ambiance of the sports bar.

Binde said he is working on adding comedy nights and musical performances as entertainment in the near future.

“It’s the only place on the golf course and we can’t wait to let everyone know we’re here,” he said.
