Opening of the South American restaurant ‘Kumbia’ in Rockville Square

ROCKVILLE, MD – A new restaurant opening this winter in Rockville Town Square will offer a menu of dishes from Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Brazil and Ecuador. Kumbia mainly serves South American dishes accompanied by a cocktail menu.

“We are thrilled to bring a unique Latin offering, including exciting cocktails, beloved dishes and live music inspired by the variety of cuisines that represent South American food culture,” said Steven Tobar, co-owner of Kumbia, in a press release. “We look forward to joining the diverse collection of restaurants that make the neighborhood a great community dining destination.”

The restaurant will open at 100 B Gibbs Street, next to First Watch and Truist Bank, and will offer a variety of nightly entertainment.

“We look forward to welcoming Kumbia to Rockville Town Square, to complement the now open Plaza Oaxaca, and the soon-to-open Thai Chef and Half Smoke, to name a few,” said Mickey Papillon, vice- president of Federal Realty, in a press release. “These new restaurants, alongside longtime Rockville favorites, provide an exciting and unique dining scene for the greater Rockville and Montgomery County community.”

A specific opening date has yet to be announced.
