As many restaurants close their doors, the long-awaited opening of the Galene restaurant in Lakeville, at 5870 Big Tree Road, took place in mid-August, with outdoor service only on the terrace, for the evening. instant. Initial plans for the restaurant, located on the north shore of Lake Conesus, in the building that once housed the North Shore Grill and Hook and Spoon, were due to open the restaurant in the spring of 2021. However, lack of staff forced the restaurant to stay. firm. . In June, manager Jeff Terrillion said he couldn’t find a line cook to work and he also needed more waiters, and he couldn’t open the full restaurant without the necessary staff. to provide good service to customers.

However, the building has undergone a major interior and patio renovation since last year, and it’s summer in a seaside resort, so restaurant owner Paul Develder decided to change the plans a bit and open only the patio terrace to food and bar service. The interior of the restaurant has been elegantly refurbished, but will not open until the fall as the weather cools and a full staff can be assembled and trained. The interior portion of the restaurant will open with an expanded menu for dinner in the fall.

The food from the patio bar window is chef prepared and impressive. Customers can order food to accompany their wine, beer, liquor or other beverages. Among the offerings are steamed red prawns served with garlic butter, shrimp cocktail, snapper or corned beef reubens, homemade cheeseburgers, onion rings, fried chicken fillets, coconut shrimp, slow-cooked beef sandwiches and Cajun fries.

The restaurant is the latest offering from the Develder Restaurant group, which also includes Ember’s Woodfire Grill in Livonia, Bar-Eat-O in Geneseo and Pi-craft Pizza in Henrietta and Victor.

For now, the patio bar-restaurant hours are Wednesday to Saturday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
